What Is The SASSA Old-Age Grant?

- Married couples are not to have combined assets exceeding R2,693,600.
All applicants are required to proof their identity, income, and assets upon the application process.
February 2025 Payment Dates
In order for SASSA to ensure that payment dates for February 2025 will facilitate the grant money reaching beneficiaries on time, the scheduled steps are hereinbelow:
- Older Persons Grant: Payments will be available from February 5, 2025.
- Disability Grant: Payments would commence on February 6, 2025.
- All Other Grants: Payments would be accessible from February 7, 2025.
The arrears will be deposited into the recipients’ bank accounts or may be loaded on their SASSA cards. Payment retrieval can also be made at ATMs or participating retail outlets such as Shoprite, Checkers, and Pick n Pay.
Checking Payments For Inflation-Indexed Adjustments
SASSA has included inflation-linked adjustments to the Old Age Grant. From February 2025 onward, the following are the possible benefits to be added monthly:
- Regular Old Age Grant, increased to R2,210 a month.
- Over-75 Grant Supplement, set at R2,230 a month.
The adjustments were aimed to offset higher costs of food prices, utility bills, and other expenses.
